Just found out about an autocross at grand valley university out in Allendale, MI. Apparently it's a 20$ sign up and walk-ups are accepted. It is an SCCA sanctioned event too so anyone racing for points can clock up another event. I've been in a pissy mood since last week and spent most of today and yesterday figuring out how to improve things so I'm going to blow off steam tomorrow morning. Any oppos who join me, I will pay for the first round of post-race beers at a downtown GR bar (my problems are neither money nor alcohol related).

My car is a blue Fiesta ST and my number is 707. I will be wearing my martini helmet so stop by and say hi if you go. Last time I raced, the organizers pissed me off when the guy before me wiped out and killed half the course. The two cars behind me got re-runs but I didn't until I stormed over to the stewards and bitched them out. My next run was an absolute screamer that had lots of tripod moments and throttle off oversteer to whip through the tighter corners. I also set my fastest time of the day and managed a healthy mid-pack finished among upgraded GTIs and FoSTs. This weekend I've been so mad at everything I'm pretty sure I will end up on two wheels at some point or another. So come out and watch if you've got nothing better to do. Should be a blast.

Grand Valley. Doesn't Bandit go there? I attended back when it was still a state college. Allendale was way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere. Somebody said they have over 25K students now.

Yep. And a second campus in downtown GR. The downtown campus has 3-5k I think. My current job is near there but our building was just bought by the university as part of their expansion so I'm using that as an opportunity to find a new job.

I saw you at the silverdome so I know what I'm looking for. Sadly, there's another brilliant man in michigan who autocrosses a blue FiST. Mine has the recaros, his doesn't. So look for that.

Have not been there for a long time. More than quite a few years. I'm sure that city would totally blow me away now. Yowen said he was looking at apartments by Ionia and Wealthy. Jeez, when I grew up there that was an industrial/ghetto cross. Division street and Wealthy was not a place to be at night. Or in the day for the most part.

Division and wealthy is still a little sketch. Lots of homeless shelters and the druggies/felons who get turned away from the shelters wander around there. But I lived in Flint for 5 years. No joke, I was looking lost downtown in my first month here and a homeless guy was trying to bum me for a few bucks. I brought up I was from Flint and he just had this face that was a mix of fear and "wtf". He turned around, said nothign else, and walked away. Even the "bad" parts of downtown GR are better than the good parts of Flint.

Grew up in GR. Spent my young life shoveling snow, raking leaves and cutting grass. All those things I wanted to get away from. I bet Rockford is a whole lot different from what I remember. The one thing I do kinda miss is all the fishing on lakes that are everywhere and Lake Michigan. Where you now?
